Hittin' the Trail!

Today, was such a gorgeous day, we buckled up & drove to the walking trail! The walking trail runs from one tip of the Island to the other (no....we're not walking that far!!!)

Okay, Dad - I'm sitting pretty & ready to go!

Are we there yet, Dad?

Xena got to ride shotgun!

Wow - that's a loooong trail!

No match for us though!

Xena - on the search for an elusive squirrel!

Nooo!!! Say it isn't sooo!! The leaves are starting to turn!!

A field of soybeans growing along the trail!

It's been a ruff week here at the Home for Geriatric Wieners! But, thankfully we are finally feeling better.
Oskar was a lean, mean pooping machine for 5 days! Thank dawg for pumkin & rice is all we got to say!
Schatzi's ear are better, she hates having drops administered! So much so, she decided to pee on her blankies & bed...just to show us how pizzed she was! And Xena continues taking prednisone. Never a dull moment in Wienerville!!!

We's Been Under the Weather!

Now, efurbuddy knows our Mama & Papa persons take the very bestest care of us, yet...we seem to get sick a lot! Efer notice that? Not sure why that is.

Firstly, Oskar has had the poopies for 2-3 days - til Mama brought out the pure canned pumpkin & boiled chicken breast & white rice diet. Thankfully, he is feeling much better today.

Then Papa took Schatzi to that horrible V.E.T.when he noticed her digging her ears this morning! Seems she has an ear 'fection! So, Dr. Condon prescribed drops (*horror*) twice daily! (ok, the donut ball from Tim Horten's drive thru might have been worth it!)

And Xena's on-going butt 'fection saga - has turned into a PBS mini-series!! Not to mention the dry eye drops, which require two special drops twice daily, along with Prednisone medication.

Some doggies don't see a vet from one year to the next....ours is on speed dial!!

Humane Society Dog Jog!

Team Lowriders participated in a dog jog fundraiser for the PEI Humane Society held on the Charlottetown waterfront! Cool, breezy fall day; perfect for the event!

Xena warming up for her part!!

Ok, so I cheated a bit! I still had a pawsome time & met a cute little fellow named Hubie!

Schatzi looking dachsing in her C.E.O. t-shirt!!

And our "Bad to the Bone" rebel!

Team Lowriders raised $200 for the shelter & received some pawsome thank-you prezzies which included a certificate for a free 8x10 photo with Santa in December, pet id package, poop bags & dispenser, shelter pin, Royal Canin photo album, bag of doggie treats, a paw print stained glass ornament & a huge Humane Society bandana (Xena managed to drip water on it while checking out the treats!)

RIP Cousin Wiggles

Please join us in offering our most deepest sympathy to our Auntie Pat! Her beloved kitty of 19 years has gone to the Bridge! You will be greatly missed cousin Wiggles!

Blustery Saturday!

The tropical storm wasn't as severe as forecasted (that's a good thing, right?). It is really windy & we had lots of rain, but no damage here.

Mama decided, since we couldn't go outside & sun ourselves, it was a good day to bath a certain pie-bald (no names mentioned). Xena & I suffered baths not long ago, so it only seems fair that you know who is dealt the same fate.

So, now we are all sweet smelling & cuddly!

Tropical Storm Warning Issued!

We got some nasty weather heading our way!! It's beautiful today-the calm before the storm! This is the warning issued from Environment Canada:

Queens County P.E.I.
10:46 AM ADT Friday 03 September 2010
Wind warning for
Queens County P.E.I. continued

Winds gusting near 90 km/h are expected with Earl on Saturday.

This is a warning that potentially damaging winds are expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

At 9 AM ADT the centre of hurricane Earl was located about 205 kilometres east northeast of Cape Hatteras North Carolina and is moving north northeast at 37 km/h. On its current track Earl is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Western Nova Scotia or the Fundy coast of New Brunswick Saturday morning.

It is likely that portions of Southwestern Nova Scotia will have wind gusts reaching or exceeding 100 km/h....Possibly reaching 130 km/h. Wind gusts reaching 90 km/h or higher are possible elsewhere over the above regions.

Heavy rain...Amounting to 40 to 70 millimetres will likely fall over portions of the Maritimes on Saturday as Earl tracks across the region....With southern and Central New Brunswick and Northwestern Prince Edward Island being the most likely areas to receive these amounts. Over many areas of the Maritimes very heavy downpours are likely...With 25 millimetres or more possible in one hour.

Higher than normal water levels are possible along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia and over the gulf of st. Lawrence coastlines. However since the tidal cycle is not extreme..Severe storm surge impacts are not as likely as they would be otherwise.

However high waves and pounding surf can be expected along south and southeast facing coastlines around portions of the Maritimes with the arrival of Earl.

The hoomans will busy putting away patio furinture, pool toys & the bar-be-que this evening!

We did a check of our necessary requirments to ride out the storm.

1. Kibble - 35 kg bag - should last a day or two
2. Case of bottled water- Another cooler in the fridge
3. Pet first aid kit - Stocked
4. Treats, treats & treats - A few bags on hand
5. Freshly laundered snuggling blankets
6. Full pkg of pee pads - cause we ain't going outdoors in that!! No way!
(well, ok this is negotiable - see #4)

And it's been soooo hot here the last few days - we even got dunked in the pool last night!!! We'll post the proof tonight!
