Schatzi is resting comfortably in ICU. Her surgery went very well, once they removed a large amount of debris, her spinal column settled right back into place.
It will be a few days of recuperation and further testing before she is discharged, so we don't expect her home much before late Monday.
Thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's a good thing she's there until Monday. They can keep her sedated & comfortable. This also gives you time to prepare for when she comes home.
Take care & keep us updated.

I would like to know more about what caused her injury & how to recognize & care for it when your up to posting about it.
WOOOHOOO!
ReplyDeleteWe're so glad she is ok.
Take good care of that sweet baby when she gets home.

I am so glad you caught it and knew what it was immediately, Charlotte. My first dog George died from it, and we went to a vet within a couple hours of her disc popping out - but he misdiagnosed it as an upset tummy - so she wasn't dianosed until the next day, and then it was all downhill from there. It was horrible to watch. I've learned so much about the disease from there and I know now that she did NOT need to die and I am convinced that the original vet basically caused her death. If only I'd known. Good luck to you and Schatzi for many more years!
