And God Created the Dog
On the first day of creation,
God created the dog.
On the second day of creation,
God created man to serve the dog.
On the third day,
God created all the animals of the earth to serve
as potential food for the dog.
On the fourth day,
God created honest toil so that man could labour
for the good of the dog.
On the fifth day,
God created the tennis ball so that the dog might
or might not retrieve it.
On the sixth day,
God created veterinary science to keep the dog
healthy and the man broke.
On the seventh day,
God tried to rest......but He had to walk the dog.

Before I was A Dog Mom
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I slept as late as I wanted & never worried about how late I got to bed... or if I could get into my bed.
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I cleaned my house everyday,
I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies, or invited the neighbor's dog over to play.
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I didn't worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags, toilet paper, soap or deodorant were poisonous or dangerous.
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I had never been peed on, pooped on, drooled on, chewed on, or pinched by puppy teeth.
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I made & enjoyed hot meals ..... alone.
I had unstained, unfurred clothes, & quiet conversations on the phone, even if the doorbell rang.
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I had complete control of my thoughts, my body and my mind.
I slept all night without sharing the covers or my pillow.
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and four-legged could affect my heart so deeply.
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I had never held a sleeping puppy just because I couldn't put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.
I didn't know how warm it feels inside to feed a hungry puppy.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Dog Mom.....
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment,
or the satisfaction of being.....

Paw Prints on my Heart
You are with me every day
By my side you always stay
Except for when we’re out on a walk
When you spot a rabbit to stalk!!
You’re devoted and loyal in every way
You love your hugs and you love to play
When its time for bed you sleep
Without a care in the world, not a peep
I call your name and to me you run
Games of tug of war are such fun
With you I am happy you fill me with joy
I love watching you play with a new toy
You play so content
Every time that is spent
With you is a bundle of fun
Your coat glistening in the sun
You always know when I’m sad
You run over to me and I’m glad
You are my best mate my sweetheart
You leave paw prints on my heart

Bone-Chilling Temps!!
Well - it is, after all - winter! And winter in Atlantic Canada, eh? So, along with winter - comes those days when the temps drop into the minus double digits - and the windchill dips even lower!
There is not much wiener activity; the kritterkins are pretty much into stress-filled days, lazing by the wood stove or basking in the afternoon sun, dreaming of warm summer days!
Some days, it's tough to be a dachshund!

How God Made Dachshunds
I received this today - and wanted to share!
"HOW GOD MADE DACHSHUNDS"
God made the little Dachsie to brighten up our day
He took a bit of sunshine- Laughter, love, and play
And rolled it up in a sausage shape just right for a hug
With bright eyes full of mischief set in its little mug.
With little paws a pattering, to take it here and there
And a cold wet nose - but then He thought, "Oh, what about the hair?
Shall I make it long and silky, or wiry, that's so sweet
Or make it simple, and have it smooth and satiny and neat?
And what about the color - how can I pick just one?
Shall it be Black, or Red or Brown or Dappled, just for fun?
He pondered while He made the world, And all the creatures great and small
And then the answer came to Him.
"OF COURSE! I'LL MAKE THEM ALL!!
So remember that a Dachshund is special, from above
His coat of many colors is a sign of God's Great Love

Schatzi-Examination at the Vet Hospital Today!
Schatzi underwent a final neurological exam today at the Atlantic Veterinary College.
Bundled up & ready to go!
A short few minutes & we arrived!
She was examined thoroughly by Dr. Mooke - the very surgeron who performed her surgery & fenestration. He was extremely pleased with her progress. Other than a slight wobble in her gait, she has made a full recovery! There is no evidence of calcification present in the remaining discs (at this time, but she is a dachshund).
The attending vet, along with with Dr. Mooke, stated quick diagnosis, treatment & the excellent after-care Schatzi received, is testament to her making full recovery.
Schatzi is happy the wire crate is folded up & packed away & enjoying her freedom again! Crate rest is officially over!
