On Alert for Crows...

Dad vacuumed & scrubbed the inside & outside of our vehicle (aka the "Wienermobile")...and removed our car seats so the covers & blankets could get washed...

Mama had them back together & sitting on the deck...Liesel decided hers was a perfect spot for crow watching...

Road Trip in the Rain...

On Tuesday, it rained for most of the day..but we got to enjoy a road trip to run some errands...

First Dad stopped to get the mail...we prefer our correspondence in the form of pee mails...but to each his own..

Here we are, all cute & stuff...waiting patiently...

Dad went into M & M shop to pick up some chicken-kabobby-thingeys...

We went to a bunch of other non-interesting places...but then...we drove in here...

This day just kept getting better & better...Dad's taking us to the back of the store...so we can watch the fishes swimming about...

Oskar needed a couple of packages of these...so he can take his medications...

And Liesel got to pick a new toy...decisions...decisions...(she picked the elephant on the far left)

Mama thought this was pretty cute...(but didn't buy it..thank dawg)

Turns out rainy days aren't so bad after all!

Let's Hope This Doesn't Backfire...

We switched Oskar's feed to Acana (Duck & Bartlett Pear)... a Limited Ingredient diet that is suited to "diet sensitive" dogs. Previously he had been fed a prescription HP small breed kibble from Royal Canin...at our veterinarian's insistence. Halfway through our second bag...we were losing the battle to get Oskar to eat...he absolutely hated his food. No matter what was mixed in with it...he would eat around it or spit it out.

It got to the point where he was unhappy all day...the reason being? He was hungry. His harness was loose...not a good sign, so Mama sprung into action. Since Liesel is loving her Acana kibble..Mama spoke with the owner of the food supply store..describing Oskar's medical issues & IBS concerns...and Acana have three choices for LID (Limited Ingredient Diet).

We chose the Duck & Bartlett Pear variety...and we can't believe the difference in meal times! As with Liesel....there was no slow switch to the new kibble..the old kibble was left in the bowl & the Acana eaten right up. It's been three days...no ill side effects...just one happy guy..content now that his belly is getting full.

Prednisone will cause increased hunger...but since switching food..Oskar is not begging to be fed all the time. No tummy woes or issues so far.

We are not compensated by Acana..just sharing our positive experinece with their products. We give it four paws up.

I Love My Nightime Bed....

It's very soft & snuggly. We know most doxies prefer the human bed..but I like my crate best. Oskar has his own special crate/bed too.

Sometimes, after early morning pees...I get into the big bed for good morning kisses & rolls..but I'm a "need my own space kinda gal"...

Who's got time to sleep when there are crows to chase, annoying peeps to bark at, bones to chew...not to mention some serious deck lounging...

A Sunday Stroll & Mama's New Camera

It is sunny here today...but windy & cool. A great day for us to hit the trail a short distance from our house. Mama got a new fancy smancy camera she wanted to take out for a test drive as well...

Here is Liesel before we crossed the road to go on the trail....looks like she is smiling..she's having such a good time....

The start of the trail...

Look at this...still got some lingering snow...

Wish it would hurry up & melt...

Oskar & Dad...enjoying a leisurely walk..(think Oskar is having a pee..)

A friendly black lab came to greet us as we started on the trail...

We had a pawsome walk...so good to be out in the fresh air & sunshine...this is such a great time of year!! We hope wherever you are today....get outside & get some good vibes going too!!

Schatzi's Rose...

We made Mama's eyes water when we gave her a beautiful white rose shrub for Schatzi's burial spot. Now we'll have two rose bushes...Xena's is pink & Schatzi's white rose will be planted when the soil warms up. We have a pawsome Dad who helped us save our kibble dollars to honour Schatzi's memory...

We're taking advantage of a little sun today & watching Dad putter around the yard..

We're here if you need a paw, Dad!

Good to get the fire pot going...to burn some old brush...

And Dad tilled the garden the other night...soon some veggies will be going in the ground...

Puppy Chow....

No, not the brand Puppy Chow...just puppy food in general. Ever since Liesel joined us, she has been fed Wellness Puppy food. It's a good food...having all the nutritional requirements for a growing puppy. But the catch is she has never liked it.

We have never been able to get into a feeding schedule ...she just nibbles here & there. Now Oskar's kibble...she likes! The problem is that he is fed a prescription diet...to alleviate his IBS flare ups. It is not by choice, but rather necessity he is required to eat a specialized diet & taking Prednisone...he is quite happy to eat anywhere...anytime! His kibble does not, however supply a busy wire girl with the required fat, protein, etc. a growing puppy needs.

Mama chose to try Acana puppy small breed kibble...it is Canadian made in Alberta..

An attempt was made to make the transition slowly...but Liesel simply left the Wellness in her bowl & ate the Acana. Mission accomplished!

She still is not a regimented eater. The daily amount of Acana for her weight is 2/3 C/day. Mama puts 1/3 C in her bowl in the morning..and offers it to her throughout the day...(whenever Oskar's tummy gong goes off), usually. Liesel prefers to have her meal late in the day....early evening.

So, that is the "schedule" or lack thereof that we go with. Never had a dachshund that wouldn't eat at the drop of a hat!

Deck Sunning Days Ahead...

First official deck sunning day...

She is keeping watchful eye on her Dad overturning the garden...
(too wet to run the tiller through just yet)
You can see the last bit of remaining snow to the right in the
field....

Annual Trek to Veseys Seeds

Not much spring like weather here today...a breezy & cool 3 degrees. But it was a perfect day to take a short road trip to Veseys Seeds & pick up seeds for our veggie garden.

This is Liesel's first road trip for seeds..

Oskar looking all dapper..

And here we are...you can see the sky
is brooding..no sun in sight..

Some pretty daffodils in bloom..ours are not blooming yet...

We have quite a few packages left over from last year
so we didn't need a lot of seeds...

Mr. Weatherman is forecasting sun & double digit temperatures for the next 6 days!! Holy Gwak-A-Molie! What are we gonna do in all that sun?

Maybe a bit of chillaxin' on the deck?

It's Good To Share Things....

Except for colds...

First Dad had his fourth cold since last fall...all last week we helped him get better with lots of snuggles & snorts...

And now... Mama caught the cold...sometimes it's not good to share all the time...

But on the bright side...the sun is out & the snow is melting. Liesel had a spawdicure appointment this morning & while she was getting all beautiful Oskar & Dad ran a few errands.

Hopefully, we'll get back to blogging..the weekend weather is going to be paw some!!!

There Are Treats In There!!

That is Benson's head in Mama's pocket...he is crunching on some treats! Liesel is offering assistance.

And for one brief moment Benson sat still...

His ear has since been set back to the factory setting!!
