Today is a milestone...Liesel is 6 months old today...a whole half a year!! And her CKC registration arrived yesterday..so it's been a big week!

Oh...and a couple more storms on the horizon...yay..

It Was Bound To Happen...Blizzard Warning

It is winter...after all...

Cloudy. Snow at times heavy and blowing snow beginning early this morning. Amount 15 to 25 cm. Wind northeast 40 km/h gusting to 60 increasing to 60 gusting to 90 late this morning. High minus 4. Cold wind chill minus 25 this morning.
Tonight
Snow mixed with ice pellets changing to ice pellets or freezing rain this evening then to a few rain showers overnight. Snow and ice pellet amount 5 cm. Local blowing snow this evening and after midnight. Wind northeast 60 km/h gusting to 90 diminishing to 40 gusting to 70 after midnight. Temperature rising to plus 2 by morning.

Wednesday
Cloudy with 40 percent chance of rain showers in the morning and early in the afternoon. A few flurries beginning in the afternoon. Local snowfall amount 2 cm. Wind northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming southeast 20 in the morning then northwest 40 gusting to 60 late in the afternoon. Temperature falling to minus 8 in the afternoon.

When One Door Closes....

Another opens...

Losing our beloved fur members of our family is such a heartbreak & loss...they cannot be replaced..their impact on our lives stays with us forever..

Our animals are precious to us..when they hurt..we hurt..when they are cold & lonely..we warm & comfort them..when they are hungry...we provide nourishment...and when the time comes for them to go..we say our good-byes...we grieve...and thankfully...we move on, because life goes on. I take comfort in that...this is the way it is meant to be..

The saying, "Every time God closes a door...he opens a window"..is true...think of the choices you have made in your life...good or bad...to get you where you are...right now. Hard times, good times, bad times, difficult times, loss of loved ones, the joy in a birth...set you on a course...and our animals are part of that journey.

There is not a day that goes by, that I don't miss Xena & Schatzi...they have left their paw prints stamped on my heart forever...but we are blessed to have Oskar still with us...and this new little life...Liesel..a fur ball of energy...who reminds us that...life does indeed...go on.

When one door closes....

Beautiful Day for an Outing!!

It was sunny, dry & not too cold...a good time to load up & hit the walking trail...



See how clear the trail is from snow...awesome, eh?



We wore our warm cable sweaters...as it was on the chilly side..



Oskar's cool "big dog" shadow...it's how he sees himself most days...



Something of great interest here...worth investigating...(a fox had run across the trail...causing great excitement)..



Afterwards we made a quick stop to pick up a couple packages of delicious roasted bones...



* An update on Oskar's IBS situation...since switching him to this kibble....and adding probiotic powder to his diet..he has been feeling much better...he loves the new kibble & looks forward to each meal now. He will continue on the IBS medications, as well. We are keeping our paws crossed that things continue to improve...



We have the best vet ever...cause even though he was away (after our visit on Monday)...he instructed we be called & give an Oskar update. How paw some is that?

This & That....

It has been a busy few days & Oskar has been suffering with another IBS flare up...and a trip to the "room of doom" was required on Monday. We discussed administering Prednisone...but it cannot be taken with Metacam, which he is prescribed for his back. Weighing the lesser of two evils, we chose to switch his diet from Nature's Variety Limited Ingredient Diet to Royal Canin Hypoallergenic HP small breed bites, as well as a powered probiotic powder added daily.



Thankfully, the cold weather is gone...for now & the rains took away most of the show...so now we can get out for short walks during the day!

January is winding down...

Liesel-Puppy K Graduate!!

Mama forgot to post my "graduation photo"! We've already began Basic Obedience...second class is tomorrow!

January 16 Is Always A Sad Day...

Three years on January 16,2012 we made the heart wrenching decision to send Xena to the Bridge.

She will live on forever in our hearts!!

Apparently...It's That Time...

Mama came right out & said..."Liesel...you are stinnnnky!" Hmm..not sure what that meant...I didn't even try to run or hide..



I just layed there and said, "Who? Me? You mean me, Mama?"



I'm pretty sure she meant me....



It wasn't all that bad..even my teeth & ears are squeaky clean & I smell pretty nice now!!

Raise Your Paw If You Like Snow!!

I like jumping in it...



Getting my feet covered in it!!



That was such fun...but time to go inside & warm up!!

On another note...Osker is having a few days crate rest & pain meds...nothing serious..he may have been playing with Liesel a bit too hard...so some R & R was in order...



He is doing much better today...but still keeping him on the down-low.

We completed Puppy Kindergarden..have a fancy certificate & all...pictures to follow..Basic Obedience starts next Saturday and lastly, Liesel undergoes her spay on February 3rd. Whew...lots of stuffs going on!!

Busy Being Us....

It's been a busy few days here...so we'll try to catch you up...Liesel "helping" Dad get any paint spots off the floor..



She's being a "huge" helper...



Then a rambunctious play with nephew Benson...



And finally....it happened...I crashed..



And all the while..Oskar was busy doing this....
