Gold Cup Parade 2010
It's Old Home Week here in PEI & today was the Gold Cup Parade (Old Home Week centres around agriculture, harness racing, midway, & concerts) and the week wraps up with a parade and a final harness race (called the Gold Cup Race) tomorrow night.
Today we celebrated with the day off so everyone could watch the parade!
Beautiful Percheron horses!
Bring in the Clowns!
Of course, the Island Shrine club was on hand, with their little motor cars!

Schatzi-Spa Day & Yearly Exam
So, today Mama informs me it's time for my spadicure & yearly check up! First order of business, gather up my spa supplies. Let's see, towels, bath puff, ear cleaner, cotton balls, shampoo, spritz cologne (gotta smell all purty), toothbrush & paste, for sparkling clean toffies & nail clippers for my hoofies!
Okay, all suds up - turn on the rinse cycle, Mamma!
Now, fluff me up in a soft, warm towel!
Here I am, strapped in & ready to go!
I was berrry brave at the V.E.T. - even when they stuck me with a needle & drained some icky stuff from a tumor on my belly - I was a model patient! The tumor is just a fatty tumor - nothing scarey. Speaking of fatty, it appears I am going on a D.I.E.T.!! I think Mamam put her foot on the scale when I wasn't looking - cause I gots to lose over 2 whole pounds!
Looks like peeled apples & green beans will be my treats from here on! But that's okay - I love 'em both!
Dr. Condon says my eyes are getting cloudy, but that happens to us senior gals, nothing to be alarmed at (just ask Xena *snort*)! All in all, besides the weight thingy, I had a great check-up!!

RIP Riley
His name was Riley, a much loved lhasa apso struck by a vehicle on Friday, died from his injuries. He was a healthy, 12 year old who loved to sit in the sun & watch the world go by from his perch & wait for us to walk by!
Please light a candle to guide him safely on his journey.
Dogspeed, Riley.

Terrible Mishap on our Street
I was taking the dogs for their evening stroll & as we were passing by a house, a few doors down (they just moved to the neighbourhood) - when the front door opened - and down the stairs, across the lawn & right out into traffic - a little white dog came racing! (he/she saw our dogs) and was racing across the road to see us.
It was like...in that moment...time stopped. I started to yell, "No! No! No!", squeezed my eyes shut & heard the thump!! The owner, was there in two seconds, scooped up the dog & they took off for the Vet Emergency hospital. I heard the dog cry - so that's a good sign, right?
The driver stopped - poor woman - she was in tears; there was no way she could have seen the dog in time - he came out from behind three parked vehicles in the owner's driveway. I spoke to the owner's daughter, who is terribly upset - but I wanted to offer my support.
Please keep this little one in your prayers & hold your kritterkins a little closer tonight.

Yeah, Yeah - Enuf Already!
Ok, enuf sympathy for the spotted guy, ok? Sheesh...what a whimp he turned out to be!!! Sookin' & getting "special" food, humph!
So, onto more portant subjects...like me! Bet Mamma didn't tell you I got hauled off to the V.E.T. hospital the other day! Nor did she tell you how they "tortured" me - getting all up in my butt - doing that squeezey thing they like to do!! Man, did I tell them a thing or two!! But my loudest bark - even biting at Mama's hands - wouldn't make that nasty Dr. MacBeth go away!
Ok, so I admit - my bum feels much better - but you can bet your dog biscuits I left a "treat" of my own on the V.E.T. hospital lawn!!!
PeeSS-Piebald brother is feeling better - so no more worries or special treatement on him, k?
It's all about this Princess now.
