Christmas Wreaths

Spent some time & made a couple of wreaths. Firstly, a Wiener wreath! I used modelling clay, rolled out & cut using dachshund & bone shaped cookie cutters. Then baked in the oven & left to dry over night. Add a bow, some coloured balls, a dachshund tag & voila!

And a festive wreath for the front door!

Seems Someone is Bored

Being on crate rest! In tidying up her crate, putting in fresh bedding, I discovered Schatzi has been doing some digging!
I don't leave toys or chewies with her while we can't be home, she does get a stuffed kong - I'm thinking I'll freeze it & perhaps it will be more of a challenge for an obviously bored gal! Anyone have any ideas, love to hear them.

Brake Fast Bowl

Xena is our resident gobbler of food! (she doesn't chew her food). While reading Dog Fancy, I saw an ad for the "Brake Fast" Bowl. A bowl designed to prevent your dog from inhaling their food.

The bowl claims to reduce the risk of "bloat", slower eating makes the dog feel full, is available in sizes small, medium & large, is dishwasher safe and kibble or canned food can be used.

Sounded to good to be true!

So, I ordered one & have been using it for a number of months now. The bowl slides around the floor - another idea implemented to slow down eating time.

While I can't say that Xena is actually chewing her food, the bowl does slow her down, which is what the bowl is designed to do. And Xena has figured out how to eat - without having the bowl move around on her! Smart little dachshund!

Comfort Bears

Our dear friend, Auntie Margaret strikes again!! Look what arrived in our mailbox-Comfort Bears! They are so cute & a great alternative to a hot water bottle.
These wonderful bears are the creation of Joan at www.dogedesigns.com for anyone who could use a comfy, warm friend on those cold winter nights. You just pop them in the microwave until they are toasty warm!

We plan to use one in Schatzi's Outward Hound bag-she will be warm and snuggly while we partake in our evening walks!

Thank you so much, Auntie Margaret!

PS-Be sure and check out her new blog http://teckeltails.blogspot.com/

Schatzi is in the Bag!!

It was such a lovely, mild evening (after that little blast of winter last week!) we rounded up the posse & headed out for a short walk around the neighbourhood. Schatzi was quite happy to be out in the fresh air & enjoyed her ride in the Outward Hound bag (which Auntie Margaret lovingly mailed to us when Xena underwent back surgery two years ago).

Schatzi even felt up to having a little tussle with her squeaky!

And not to be left out - or feel neglected - a handsome pie-boy!!
